Jewel was the daughter of Fletcher Levi and Annie Lou (Daily) Lewis. She grew up and attended school in Woodbury. In 1944, she moved to Dallas where she lived until moving to Hillsboro in 1974. She worked for 8 years as a teacher's aide with the Hillsboro I.S.D. Her greatest joy was her family and she dedicated many years to taking care of her youngest brother who had suffered a serious accident as a child. Jewel was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard Lewis and Auldin Lewis, and 1 sister, Aleta McConathy.
Survivors include: Two brothers, Douglas Lewis and wife Faye of Hillsboro, and Elgin Leon (Be Boy) Lewis of Hillsboro; two nieces and a nephew, Leonard Donald Lewis and wife Dayle, Nelda Tidwell, and LaDonna King and husband John; and sister-in-law, Mae Lewis.
